As the crown jewel of Cuba’s colonial towns, Trinidad stands as a perfectly preserved Spanish colonial settlement. Founded in 1514, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site with baroque and neoclassical style buildings lining cobblestoned streets. In addition to being a dream destination for history lovers, Trinidad is home to a wealth of natural attractions. Just south of the city is Playa Ancon with its sparkling white beaches. To the north, the Sierra del Escambray provide a lush playground for the adventurous travelers. The town itself is known for being an “outdoor museum”, but other highlights include the Plaza Mayor, the antique collection at Museo Romantico and the Architecture Museum.
